My DC Adventure

“The world is a book and those who don’t travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine

Hey, y’all! As I mentioned in my last post, “Tying the Knott: A Baltimore Wedding,” I recently got to travel to Washington, DC! I went to Baltimore for a friend’s wedding and on the last day in town, we (my friend Leah and I) had some spare time so we made the hour-long trip to DC so that we could explore!

We didn’t actually go inside many places, but we certainly had a great sight-seeing experience!

Tying the Knott: A Baltimore Wedding

“In dreams and in love there are no impossibilities.” —Janos Arnay

My friend Monica and her new husband, Kemp Knott, both seem to adhere to the belief that is quoted above! They got married this past weekend and I’m so glad I got to be a part of the experience! It was pretty awesome to witness two people so in love and excited to start a life together!

Along with the wedding, I was happy to take part in some spring adventures! I got to explore local Baltimore neighborhoods and venture off to Washington, DC too! (My next blog post will talk about DC, so keep an eye out!)

Before the Wedding

I traveled to Baltimore, Maryland with my good friend, Leah! We all grew up in Sweeny, a small Texas town, and have kept in touch! Leah made all of our travel arrangements, which was great! She set us up to stay at the Radisson at Cross Keys which turned out to be a nice hotel in a super cute area!

Sasha’s First Rover Stay

“Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole.” – Roger Caras

For me, that quote definitely rings true! I adopted my dog, Sasha, in September 2012 and she’s made my life pretty amazing since then!

Our activities together vary a lot! Sasha and I like to exercise together but we know when to relax too. Also, she’s one of the best companions to seek adventure with!

Spring Spruce Up

“Despite the forecast, live like it’s spring.” – Lily Pulitzer

It was a bit chilly last week in the Dallas area! I even wore a vest with a fur hood one day…and it’s April! Can you believe that? But this weekend turned out to have perfect spring weather which inspired me to spruce up my apartment a bit!

I stay pretty busy so it can be hard to find time for crafty projects.  With that said, I’m happy to announce that my living room recently got a makeover and today I cleaned the rest of that area and it all feels new! I’ve lived in the same apartment for a little over three years now and while I definitely get in the occasional moods to move, I know that I can’t give up the price or location I have. So, an easy fix when those moods come around, is to add a few new things and move the other stuff around!

Enhancing my wall collage was the main project I decided to focus on this time! I took down all the photos I had and laid them on my floor. It was a mess at first! But, by searching Pinterest,  making a trip to Homegoods and World Market, and receiving advice from my friends via text, I came up with the perfect new layout!

Check out the before and after below!

The top is before and the bottom is after! Such an improvement!

Changing out the pictures in the frames is another good step to take! Also, I had already incorporated new furniture which stepped up the look a lot!

24th Birthday Celebration

“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” – Oprah Winfrey

Birthdays are that special time of the year where you get to spoil yourself! You also get to enjoy being spoiled by others, and that can be nice sometimes!

Are you looking for some ideas of how to praise and celebrate your life? I recently traveled to Houston, Texas for my 24th birthday celebration and it was the perfect way to go about praising another year of life!

Sequence of Events

After enjoying a great happy hour with my coworkers last Thursday at Henry’s Tavern in Plano, I rested up and packed to travel to Houston the next day. Friday the 17th (my birthday) rolled around the next morning and I got prepared to head out on my five hour road trip!

My hometown of Sweeny, is about an hour south of Houston and that’s where I went Friday night. Being the small town that it is, finding fun activities often requires traveling a bit more, to the neighboring towns.

My friend Nadia rode down from Dallas with me and we met up with some of my hometown friends for a night of pool playing and country dancing. We went to some of the local places, Rickochet’s and Kicks, and we had such a good time!
