“The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.” – Oprah Winfrey
Birthdays are that special time of the year where you get to spoil yourself! You also get to enjoy being spoiled by others, and that can be nice sometimes!
Are you looking for some ideas of how to praise and celebrate your life? I recently traveled to Houston, Texas for my 24th birthday celebration and it was the perfect way to go about praising another year of life!
Sequence of Events
After enjoying a great happy hour with my coworkers last Thursday at Henry’s Tavern in Plano, I rested up and packed to travel to Houston the next day. Friday the 17th (my birthday) rolled around the next morning and I got prepared to head out on my five hour road trip!
My hometown of Sweeny, is about an hour south of Houston and that’s where I went Friday night. Being the small town that it is, finding fun activities often requires traveling a bit more, to the neighboring towns.
My friend Nadia rode down from Dallas with me and we met up with some of my hometown friends for a night of pool playing and country dancing. We went to some of the local places, Rickochet’s and Kicks, and we had such a good time!
The next morning, of course, we had to go to one the best taco places! My hometown staple, Taco Loco, serves the most delicious breakfast tacos you’ve ever had! And each person I’ve taken home with me to Sweeny before can vouch for that!
After we were done refueling, we got on the road to get that one hour drive to Houston over with. We made our way downtown to the Magnolia Hotel, where we had a room reserved. According to their website, the Magnolia was named the “Best Boutique Hotel in Houston,” by the Houston Press. Also, it was originally home of the Houston Post Dispatch newspaper, which is pretty neat!
Everything about the hotel was nice! The environment, the architecture, the service…not to mention the two free drinks per guest at happy hour as well as free milk and cookies from 8pm-10pm!
After we were done getting ready, some of my friends met us at the hotel and then we took an Uber to dinner and went out after.
Finally, the next day, I was able to have lunch with my family! I met them at TGIF in Pearland and we had good food and good conversation! Then, Nadia and I got back on the road to head to Dallas!
I have to say, I felt pretty lucky to have been joined by so many fantastic people as I celebrated another year of life! Being spoiled by good company and going on a good mini vacation was the perfect birthday 🙂
Consider going to Houston for your next celebration! Just an idea!
